ANGUAR, Palau (Nov. 5, 2026) — Angaur voters rejected a proposed constitutional amendment and left the gubernatorial race undecided after the two candidates received an equal number of votes in the Nov. 3 general election.

The proposed amendment to Article XIII, Section 2, of the Angaur State Constitution failed to receive the required three-fourths approval of total votes cast.

Of the 177 votes cast in the election, 106 were in favor of the amendment, representing about 60% of the total. The measure therefore fell short of the constitutional threshold needed for approval.

Meanwhile, the gubernatorial race between incumbent Gov. Kennouske A. Suzuki and Warren Fukuichi ended in a tie, with each candidate receiving 84 votes.

The result means Angaur will need another runoff election to determine its next governor. Both Suzuki and Fukuichi are veteran politicians in the Angaur State Government.

In the legislative race, Olkeriil Kazuo led the 10 candidates with 118 votes, followed by Gene F. Larson with 101 votes.

The remaining top five candidates were Ethel Arurang, with 87 votes; Marvin Ngirutang, with 79 votes; and Helena Gulibert, with 74 votes.

Angaur State has 481 registered voters. However, only 177 ballots were cast in the 23rd general election, representing a voter turnout of about 37%.  These are unofficial results; official results will be released next Tuesday, November 10, 2026.
