The Ministry of Justice has announced a temporary amnesty for expired vehicles to register without paying penalties for a period of one month, beginning December 22, 2021 to January 22, 2022.
Ministry of Justice Directive No. 006-2021 issued on December 22, 2021, states that the justification for the “amnesty” is to ensure that “public safety benefits” from the “up to date and accurate registration, and in light of the present financial hardships posed by the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.”
A car owner with expired vehicle registration, under this “temporary amnesty” program, is only required to pay the registration fee and will NOT be charged late fees as currently required under 42 PNC Section 207.
