Australia has announced its objective to focus more on Private- Public Partnerships with their grants and technical assistance to Palau. This was echoed by the Australian Ambassador to Palau HE George A. Fraser during the recent independence courtesy call at the Presidential Office.

Through past support rendered by Australia on the Palau Marine Sanctuary implementation and the on-island assistance to Palau’s Marine law enforcement the partnership will be looking further into building up other areas such as sustainable tourism and entrepreneurship that will showcase highlights of Australia’s focus to assist Palau to build capacity towards service oriented tourism and private sector catalyst.

Furthermore, Australia as the world’s leader in organic and free-range farming in the ‘farm to table’ in their local market also wishes to include agriculture sector as one of those programs.

President Remengesau welcomed the offer and thanked the Australian Ambassador and the people of Australia for the assurance.

He said the idea of approach toward building up programs to increase value on the agricultural product is a way forward to ensure quality food products and services for our people and visitors is rightly delivered. [/restrict]
