On June 24, 2022, Director Elway Ikeda of the Bureau of Revenue & Taxation, Ministry of Finance, welcomed the Australian Tax Office delegation here on a twinning project to continue strengthening the relationship between both tax agencies. The initial objective of the project is to provide technical support in developing tax processes, seeking long-term system solutions, and sharing best practices in promoting taxpayer awareness and engagement to aid the Bureau’s ongoing efforts in preparing for the implementation of the Palau Goods and Services Tax on January 01, 2023. Prior to their arrival, the Australian Tax Office provided remote assistance to begin initial work and discussions on the project, and further work on these matters progressed throughout their in-country visit.
Director Ikeda expresses his appreciation to the Australian Tax Office for their instrumental support and invaluable assistance in building the Bureau’s capacity and looks forward to furthering collaborative efforts between both tax agencies through this project.
