The Council of Chiefs of Melekeok (Bai Melkeong) had lauded the traditional group, Ngara Mecherocher, for their many contributions in the Palau communities.

High Chief Reklai, Raphael Ngirmang, Rechebong, Sabino Sbal, Ngirkungiil Steven Sebalt, Sechalruliong Teodoro Rengulbai, Tmekei Andrew Tabelual, Ngirmang Richard Alonz, Rechetaoch George Rechucher, and Tkedesau Danny Ongelungel during a special meeting held at the Bai Melekeok on February 23, acknowledged the community support that the traditional group had imparted in the communities.

The Ngara Mecherocher is the oldest traditional group in Melekeok and had since been extending community supports such as helping maintain cleanliness of the state, engaging with the youth, cooperating with the community, traditional chiefs, and state government, helping restore facility destroyed by a typhoon, and assisting families during funerals, among others.

Bai Melkeong also gave the traditional group $2,000 as token of appreciation for all their community initiatives and for representing Melekeok in different community works outside of the state.

Ngara Mecherocher also prepared cheleas (special lunch) for the chiefs during the meeting.
