A car crashed into another vehicle on early Saturday morning after trying to avoid the road hole caused by an on-going construction.

Public Safety Director Aloysius Alonz told Island Times in an interview that the driver of the Nissan X-Trail identified as Ngeliei Barao was allegedly speeding off and had lost control of the vehicle after trying to avoid the hole caused by the digging from on-going road construction in front of the Palau National Gym.

According to Alonz, the car driven by Barao allegedly first hit another car that was parked beside the road before it hit another car driven by John Bryan Santos.

Police said that Barao was travelling from Topside and heading towards Medalaii when it collided into Santos’ car which was travelling from the opposite direction.

Both drivers sustained minor injuries and were immediately brought to the Belau National Hospital for medical treatment.

Barao is still being held by the hospital for further medical observation while Santos was released after being treated.

The Bureau of Public Safety (BPS) is still conducting further investigation on the case. (Rhealyn C. Pojas)
