The United States Center for Disease Control  (CDC) said it will revise its COVID-19 level 3 travel advisory for Palau.

The Palau  government last week asked CDC to clarify its COVID 19 level 3,  which it believes is unfit for a COVD-free nation.

In response, The US Embassy in Koror, said the CDC is revising its label of Palau to “no travel health notice.”

The US Embassy in an email to the Office of the President said the CDC website will be updated to reflect a “no travel restriction” advisory.

Last week, Press Secretary Olkeriil Kazuo said that the information being disseminated by the CDC “ does not appear to be tailored to Palau in any way.”

CDC has advised travelers to “reconsider travel to Palau due to COVID-19.”

In issuing a Level 3 Travel Health Notice, CDC said Palau “has lifted stay at home orders and resumed some transportation options and business operations.”

Mr. Kazuo said no such measures have been imposed by Palau because it has remained coronavirus- free.

The CDC is an email to the US Embassy here also said revisions will also be made to the travel advisories given to American Samoa, Marshall Islands and Federated States of Micronesia, which  have no confirmed cases of coronavirus.  (B. Carreon)
