MELEKEOK, Palau —Collin Joseph won the Melekeok State special election for the Legislature At-Large seat on Thursday March 13, 2025, defeating Lebilau Sebalt by a wide margin, according to unofficial results from the Palau Election Commission.
Joseph received 144 votes, while Sebalt garnered 49 votes. A total of 196 ballots were cast, including four write-in votes: Noe Yalap (1), Trebkul Teliei (1), Demei Elechuus (1) and Tikal Mekreos (1). No blank, void or rejected ballots were recorded.
Melekeok State had 779 registered voters, resulting in a voter turnout of approximately 25.2%.
Joseph performed strongly across the voting districts, securing 35 votes from Central and 109 from Proper.
Election officials have not yet certified the results, but no major disputes or irregularities have been reported. (By: Eustoria Marie Borja)
