KOROR, Palau — Starting Monday, January 20, 2025, the Financial Institutions Commission (FIC) will take over responsibility for Palau’s Corporate Registry. This change, ordered by Executive Order No. 477, moves the job of managing corporate registrations from the Office of the Attorney General to the FIC.

The FIC will now handle the registration of all types of businesses, including For-Profit and Non-Profit Corporations, Partnerships, Credit Unions, Cooperatives, and church-related corporations.

As part of this change, the FIC will launch an Online Corporate Registry on January 20, 2025. This new website will make it easier and faster for For-Profit and Non-Profit Corporations to register their businesses. Other types of businesses will still need to register using paper forms for now.

All businesses currently registered with the Office of the Attorney General must re-register with the FIC within one year after the online platform is launched. The re-registration is free during this one-year period. Businesses that do not re-register by the deadline will be shut down by the FIC.

Re-registering will be a simple process, and the FIC will have staff available to help. Businesses are encouraged to re-register early to get their Certificate of Re-Registration and maintain their Good Standing status in the Corporate Registry.

To make the process easier, the FIC is asking all businesses to send the following information by email:

  1. Business Name
  2. Contact Person
  3. Email Address
  4. Phone Number

This will help the FIC keep accurate records and ensure a smooth transition.

The FIC will also hold educational sessions to explain the re-registration process and answer questions. If you want to attend or need help, you can contact the FIC at 488-3560 or 488-3604, or email them with your information.

This change aims to modernize how businesses are registered in Palau and make the process more efficient for everyone.
