Palau will continue to send samples for testing of COVID-19 too Center for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia until Guam receives test kits from CDC.
Earlier Minister Dr. Emais Roberts had reported to Palau’s leadership that Palau will be sending any test samples to Guam should Palau encounter’s a suspected case. This was based on an earlier report from Guam’s Public Health Director Linda Unpingco DeNorcey earlier report that they expected test kits for COVID-19 soon, although no specific time table was given.
It was later reported that the issues have been found on the test kits and that CDC working with US Food and Drug Administration want to modify the kits.
Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, in a report stated that she expected the process to be quick and hopes to have the test kits out soon.
She added that CDC can quickly conduct quality tests with no lag time and that will continue.
She also said that the COVID-19 corona virus to spread in the US and that it is no longer the matter if it will come, it is now a matter of when and how many will be severely affected.
She advised people to be prepared and to expect disruption in their lives.
