Nine officers from the Bureau of Fire and Rescue, Patrol Division, and Division of Marine Law are on the final wave of their eight-week Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training supervised by EMT-certified Palauan instructors and a Honolulu-based EMT Instructor.

At the end of the training and after passing the final examination, each participant will be issued a certification during the graduation ceremony slated this August 15 at the Palau Community College (PCC) Assembly Hall.

Honolulu-based EMT Instructor Edward Caballero of the Kapi’olani Community College said that officers Neithan Adelbai and Kayla Rebluud had previously took EMT course, and eventually acquire certification, in Honolulu, allowing them to train locals on their own.

Caballero is in Palau to demonstrate how to instruct Emergency Medical Technician training.

The EMT program aims to demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities relating to recognition, assessment, and management of medical and trauma emergencies. EMT provides pre-hospital emergency care to acutely ill or injured patients.
