Koror, Palau – A convicted drug trafficker, Kalingo Kangich, also known as Kalingo Kang-itz, was ordered back to jail on March 26, 2024, facing new charges of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance. Kangich was reportedly awaiting a parole decision on a previous drug conviction.
According to court documents, Kangich was allegedly apprehended during a police operation selling methamphetamine, also known as “ice,” to a confidential informant.
Public records show Kangich faced similar charges in 2018, but the case was dismissed in 2019. The charges were refiled in 2020, and Kangich pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of possession of a controlled substance, a felony. He was sentenced to at least five years in jail and a fine of at least $10,000. Kangich was reportedly on parole at the time of his latest arrest.
He remains in custody pending a court hearing scheduled for April 9.
