Koror, Palau – The Palau Environmental Quality Protection Board (EQPB) received an application and an Environmental Assessment (EA) Report from South Pacific Capital Investment Palau, Inc. as the Project Proponent, for the proposed Palau Stingray Resort.  

[restrict]] The Proponent proposes to construct and operate a resort consisting of four (4) villas (3-guest houses and a 1-master tree house) and a water sport center to be located at Belualasmau, Peleliu. The proposed project will also include construction of support facilities such a lobby/reception building, restaurant, staff house and equipment room, a sewage treatment plant, and a floating bridge connected to a floating dock.

The Environmental Quality Protection Act establishes general standards for environmental review by the Republic of Palau Environmental Quality Protection Board, which shall ensure that environmental concerns are given appropriate consideration in decision making along with economic, social, and technical considerations. As part of the review process of EQPB, the EA for the proposed Palau Stingray Resort was sent out to different government agencies and concerned citizens of Palau for review and comments that was due on February 28, 2017. However, due to the importance of the proposed site for Palau, EQPB is extending the review deadline to March 14, 2017. The extended deadline allows the EA to be thoroughly reviewed as well as accommodate comments that have not yet been submitted.
