(UPDATE)

(UPDATE)Office of the Foreign Investment Board rescinded its December 18 announcement to close office from December 20, 2024, to January 5, 2025, and that office will maintain regular government hours with a standard holiday schedule.

The FIB Board further announced the appointment of the Board Vice President Stephanie Nakamura as Acting Executive Director and that all FIB-related matters will be directed to her via FIB Office at 488-1135. The previous announcement issued by Board member and Acting Executive Director Cornelia Mason was rescinded.

Per the December 20 update from the FIB Board, they had made arrangements for Board members to provide staffing arrangements to keep the FIB office open through the holidays.

FIB office reached out over the weekend to update Island Times on the new office hours. A former board member said that staff shortage is usually due to most government employees taking annual leave around this time of the year, which may have contributed to staff shortage.
