KOROR, Palau (Dec. 20, 2024) — January 20, 2025, is declared a National Day of Prayer for the Republic of Palau according to Presidential Proclamation 24-388.
The declaration follows the enactment of RPPL 10-6 in 2017, which established the need for an annual National Day of Prayer to be observed in January. The proclamation affirms Palau’s constitution’s acknowledging the guidance of the Almighty God, as enshrined in the preamble of the nation’s Constitution.
“The Republic of Palau has long recognized the importance of seeking the guidance of the Almighty God,” the proclamation stated, emphasizing the role of faith in the country’s foundation and unity.
President Whipps emphasized the inclusivity of the day, emphasizing Palau’s constitutional commitment to welcoming all faiths and protecting freedom of conscience. The observance encourages all citizens, regardless of religious practice or belief, to honor the occasion through prayer, either in groups or individually.
