Some Philippine nationals working in Palau have received the one-time financial assistance of USD $200 by applying for the pandemic assistance offered by the Government of the Philippines through an assistance known as “DOLE-AKAP for OFWs”, “Landbased and Sea-based Filipino workers due to coronavirus diseases (COVID-19).”

So far, it has re-opened three times and each time, it has successfully accepted little over 200 applications from Palau.
Once the application is processed online, the applicant is immediately informed if his/her application has been successful and directed to the Philippine Consul Palau’s Facebook page to watch for their names to be posted. Once the check is ready, applicant’s name is posted for them to pick up. The checks are disbursed at the Philippine Honorary Consulate Office at Surangel’s World Wide Travel Bldg. The application is simple, requiring work permit and identification information said Ritchelle Villadolid, one of the recipients. Not all applicants have been successful with some domestic workers applications not approved. One of the eligibility requirements stated in the DOLE-AKAP advisory states that an applicant “Must not receive any financial support/assistance from the receiving countries/employers.”
The payment is one-time and an applicant can not apply more than once. There are estimated 4,000 plus Filipino workers in Palau and little over 600 have received payments.
