Flags fly at half-mast in honor of High Chief Ngirturong

January 26, 2017 (Ngerulmud, Palau) President Remengesau Jr. ordered all Republic of Palau flags to fly at half mast in honor of late High Chief Ngirturong Yamazaki Rengiil of Ngeremlengui in a Presidential Proclamation 17-200 on Tuesday.

Noting his lifelong accomplishments, the proclamation recognized him as a master builder, educator, government advisor, public official and a “remarkably skilled man who helped build some of Palau’s first roads, bridges across Babeldaob and schools all over Palau”.

Mr. Yamazaki Rengiil  became the High Chief Ngirturong of Ngeremlengui in 2008 until his passing on December 29, 2016. [/restrict]
