KOROR, Palau — A woman once deported and denied entry in Palau was arrested in Fiji on Sept. 24 during a series of drug raids, according to reports from Fiji Times.

FSM Citizen and Palau citizen arrested in Fiji with other asians on drug charges.

Ginna Mukunghoa Choi, who holds a Yapese passport, was identified in Palau earlier this year as a high-profile deportee linked to what authorities described as an “Asian syndicate,” according to the Presidential Directive Feedback Report.

Fijian media reported that Choi was among seven people taken into custody during the raids, which also netted methamphetamine along with large sums of local and foreign currency. Reports indicated that one of those arrested may be from Palau, though that detail has not been independently confirmed.

The case highlights the region’s escalating struggle with narcotics trafficking. Last year, Fiji authorities seized 4.5 tons of methamphetamine valued at more than $1.3 billion, underscoring the Pacific’s role as a key transit point for the drug trade.
