Erwei Ngirmidol, starting setter for the Boy’s Junior National Volleyball Team, has received a full scholarship to study in Taiwan.
When he joined the volleyball team on 2017, Palau National Olympic Committee took notice on what Ngirmidol offered to his team.
“Mr. Ngirmidol joined the Boy’s Junior National Volleyball Team in 2017, and immediately showed excellent leadership skills claiming position as a starting setter. His diligence led his teammates to many victories in competitions. His unparalleled leadership skills have had a great effect on his teammates who aspire to be like him.” Stated Palau National Olympic Committee.
Ngirmidol stated that he is ecstatic about opening a new chapter in his life, but saddened by the fact he will have to leave his team. He plans to complete his studies in Taiwan then come back to Palau so he can contribute to the community.
Ngirmidol also gave thanks to his family, volleyball team, coaches, and people that have helped him to be the person he is today.
He advises future volleyball players to “never give up and set the bar high for others, always enjoy the game and always try harder than before.” (Source: PNOC Sports: Yangi Senior, Bars Williams & Elias Melairei)
