Benjamin Iskawa, incumbent Governor of Ngaraard State, has entered a plea agreement to 2 felonies and 3 misdemeanors in the case involving the Jia Ren Massage Parlor in Koror, Palau.

The two (2) felonies Iskawa pled to are Misconduct in Public Office by committing Unsworn Falsification to Authorities and violation of Unified Tax Act filing a tax return claiming no employees in 3rd quarter of 2019.

The three (3) misdemeanors include failing to list his income and liabilities for the Jia Ren Massage Parlor which he owned and operated, a Code of Ethics violation, a violation of the Unified Tax Act for failing to maintain business records, and violation of the Foreign Investment Act and for “knowingly” operating a “front business”.    Co-defendant Ms. Yanxiang Zu had previously pled guilty and was sentenced for violation of the Foreign Investment Act and Promoting Prostitution in Second Degree.

Presiding Justice Kathleen Salii accepted the plea and set sentencing to January 10th of 2022.
