As one of the co-hosts of the Palau International Coral Reef Center’s 16th Anniversary Fundraising Gala, the Rubekul Belau have selected High Chief Reklai Raphael B. Ngirmang, to give their opening message to start the program on Wednesday evening. The 16th Anniversary Fundraising Dinner Gala is PICRC’s biggest and only fundraising event of the year.  


Rubekul Belau has been an integral supporter of the Center.  Each of the Chiefs from the Rubekul Belau is a key influencer in his respective State in supporting protected areas and sustainable resource management.  High Chief Reklai was key influencer in the establishment of the Ngardok Nature Reserve in Melekeok State and continues to be today. The Council of Chiefs is a keen supporter of conservation and are advocates of addressing environmental issues in Palau.  It is a great honor and privilege to have Rubekul Belau represented by High Chief Reklai Raphael B. Ngirmang, to open the program for the PICRC fundraising gala.

The anniversary gala will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 on the PICRC grounds. The program is at 6-10pm, consisting of the opening message from Rubekul Belau by High Chief Reklai, followed by keynote message from Palau Pacific Resort delivered by Ms. Lucy Sugiyama. Also, on that night, PICRC CEO Yimnang Golbuu will present the first ever “Visionary Award” to the individual who has taken immense and visionary steps to leading conservation forward. Included in the program is a silent auction consisting of various prizes ranging from fuel vouchers, beauty shop packages, and field trips with researchers.

The tickets have all been sold out for this year’s gala. However, the program will be aired on the radio channel, Palau WAVE 89.9 for those who are interested in listening to the program. [/restrict]
