Palau – Ibobang High School will soon unveil its first-ever science laboratory, funded by Japan’s Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) and facilitated by JICA. The new facility, equipped with modern resources, aims to revolutionize science education for students.
Previously limited by the lack of a proper lab, students will now have the opportunity for hands-on learning through experiments and practical activities. This immersive approach promises to deepen their understanding of scientific concepts and ignite their curiosity in the field.

Science teacher and JICA volunteer Ms. Muira Rena expressed her enthusiasm, “I’m thrilled to open the lab and introduce students to its proper use. Safety training will be paramount, of course.”
Principal Henry Yuri echoed the excitement: “We’re incredibly grateful for Japan’s ODA support. This lab will significantly enhance our students’ classroom experience and open doors to future scientific exploration.”
While smaller in scale compared to other national-level ODA projects, the science lab at Ibobang High School carries long-term benefits. It has the potential to impact countless students, shaping their scientific understanding and potentially inspiring future generations of scientists in Palau.
