Koror, Palau – May 6, 2021: Building off the strong partnership the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has established with United State Agency for International Development (USAID) a Palau Emergency Preparedness and Enhanced Resilience (PEPER) Project to support both communities and government to reduce hazard-related risk and respond to emergencies. Through the PEPER, IOM handed over 1,505 plastic buckets with lids (14L) to the National Emergency Management Office (NEMO). These commodities will be pre-positioned to serve as relief assets to strengthen government capacity to anticipate, cope with, and recover from disasters. Through this effort, IOM, USAID and NEMO will help mitigate the impacts and enhance response for the local recovery from emergency events. More pre-positioned non-food items from IOM and USAID will be provided to NEMO in the coming days. We look forward to working with the government and our community partners to help bring much needed items to the impacted families.
