The Embassy of Japan presented Katsuo Fuji with the Japanese Ambassador’s Commendation in recognition of his dedication and services to the expanding Japan-Palau relations.

This was especially in the area of environmental cooperation. The Ambassador’s Commendation is awarded by Ambassadors of Japan for individuals and groups who have been dedicated to fostering ties between Japan and foreign countries in a range of fields.

At the presentation ceremony, Ambassador Yamada presented Fuji with the Certificate of Commendation.

Fuji’s wife along with Koror State Governor Gibbons and distinguished guests attended the ceremony to witness the occasion.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Yamada expressed his deep gratitude to Fuji for being so supportive for Japan’s assistance projects to Palau and having made tremendous efforts to improve solid waste management in Palau.

Furthermore, Ambassador Yamada said that he was delighted to have the opportunity to recognize Fuji also for all the hard work he had done for Japanese community here by working at Japanese language school as a principal.

In his acceptance speech, Fuji extended his heartfelt thanks to Ambassador Yamada for this award. He also appreciated his colleagues at Koror State government and Japanese language school for continuous support, acknowledging that this award is a result of everyone’s cooperation.

In his remarks, Fuji expressed his wish to continue his work to further contribute to the society in Palau.

This year marks the 25th anniversary for the establishment of Japan-Palau diplomatic relations. This award has been made in the spirit of celebrating and reaffirming the strong bilateral relations. (PR)
