The race is between the two young high powered leaders of current Koror State government, Eyos Rudimch who is the Speaker of the Legislature and Franco Gibbons who is the Chairman of Ways and Means.
The two led far ahead of the other five gubernatorial candidates by huge margins. But the two top candidates had very narrow margin between them.
Leading up to the runoff election, law suit was filed claiming that the Runoff Election was against Koror State Constitution and therefore should be stopped. Plaintiffs in the suit claim that Koror State law mandating runoff if no candidate gains majority of votes cast, is against Koror State Constitution and should be null and void.
Court last week issued its statement denying request for preliminary injunction to stop Election Commission from holding the runoff election.
Runoff Election will continue as will the lawsuit. [/restrict]
