Kotel A Deurreng (KAD) joins the Ministry of Health (MOH), UNICEF, and WHO in observing World Breastfeeding Week, August 1-7th. For the past four years, KAD has partnered with MOH in offering breastfeeding counseling and support so that mothers gain the skills and confidence to breastfeed their infants exclusively for the first four months of life and continuing through at least the first two years.
It is well documented in the health literature that breastfeeding bestows many benefits for both mothers and children. These benefits include: fewer infections among infants and young children; lower rates of obesity and NCDs among both children and mothers; enhanced mental and behavioral health; and economic benefits (elimination of household expenditures on formula and infant feeding apparatus and reduced health care expenditures). KAD takes this opportunity to thank MOH for its partnership and commitment to breastfeeding.
