Minister Steven Victor and PCS Executive Director Elbuchl Sadang signed a Partnership Agreement endorsing a longtime common relationship between the two agencies. The Agreement provides a framework for ongoing cooperation and collaboration, building upon a history of close relationship and support between the two agencies. MAFE and PCS share a concern for effective conservation and management of Palau’s natural resources that is well centered around people and communities.
As the Ministry embarks on a new benchmark in conservation that enhances benefits to people, it is seeking to strike a balance between biodiversity protection and the sustainable use of resources, a direction reflected in PCS’s mission. Both agencies currently engage with other key partners in the implementation of several initiatives, but are looking forward to increase efficiency and effectiveness in implementation on the ground toward outcomes where biodiversity thrive, while communities feel positive impact and realize sustained benefits.
