The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and the Environment (MAFE) and the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) signed an Implementation Arrangement for collaboration in Strengthening Palau Coastal Fisheries Resource Management Project on January 9th at Bureau of Fisheries’ conference room in Malakal.
“Thank you Taiwan for the long-term partnership and ICDF for the commitment on ocean protection and climate change issues” the Minister of MAFE, Steven Victor said. “Through conducting capacity building and date collection, this project will strengthen Palau’s ocean resources management, sustainable marine ecosystem and also in line with the Palau Blue Prosperity Plan,” Ambassador Jessica Lee said.
The Project aims to assist the Government of the Republic of Palau in enhancing coastal and marine resource management. The objectives of the Project includes:
1.Use technological tools to enhance coastal fishery resource data management;
2.Enhance the education and training of ocean resources management talents; and
3.Raise the level of management effectiveness by integration of Indigenous Knowledge and modern technology.
