A damaged crossarm on the main transmission line approximately 1 mile from the Aimeliik Power Plant caused major power outage on the early hours of Sunday October 31, 2021. The line fault was permanent therefore, power plant operators instructed linemen to conduct line tracing to locate fault and repair damages, if any. Upon inspection, linemen found a tilted crossarm on the 34.5KV transmission line (see provided photo). They replaced the damaged hardware and communicated with power plant to energize power accordingly. It was a rainy night but crews worked safely and diligently to restore power to all affected areas by 7am.
Electric Operations are working on a schedule to replace faulty hardware on the main transmission line between Nekken and Aimeliik Power Plant.
