On  August 18, 2022 the Palau High School Arts and Theatre Club visited the Eco Paradise (EPFM8 87.9) studio in Meyuns, Koror State. The PHS club is an implementing partner for the EPFM/ Division of Media and Information Services for the recently awarded NCD 5K Grant. The project being undertaken is called Youth Movement on Zero Tolerance on Alcohol and Tobacco Abuse and its focus is on youth who have never used alcohol or tobacco and to send a clear message on “don’t even attempt to try” these  two substances for the first time. Activities for implementing this project includes several meetings with PHS Principal, club members and advisors, appearances on the radio/social media at the studio, and preparation for the No Alcohol, No Tobacco Awareness concert to be held on October 6, 2022 featuring the PHS Arts and Theatre Club.

This partnership with the youth is the first for the government radio station, and it is expected to be the first of many to come. Please view their live recorded performance on the Eco Paradise 87.9 Ngerel Belau Face Book Page which was uploaded during their visit in August to catch a glimpse of the upcoming concert in October and be captivated by their talent.

Members of the PHS Arts and Theatre Club visiting the Eco Paradise (EPFM) Studio and recording station ID’s and messages on “ Youth Zero Tolerance on Alcohol or Tobacco Use”.

The PHS Arts and Theatre Club sent three (3) of its members to the Eco Paradise/Ngerel Belau studio on September 2, 2022 to partner and record audio station ID’s to promote “Youth Zero Tolerance on Alcohol or Tobacco Use” The station ID’s are vital in operating a radio station as [1]“The FCC requires all stations to identify themselves in this specific way. Called the Legal ID, it must be played during a natural break as close to the top of the hour as possible…” The audio recorded station ID’s will identify the EPFM/87.9 WSZB 1584 AM Station ID’s and promote messages on refrains from Alcohol and Tobacco Use for the youth of Palau.
