Micronesian Legal Services Corporation held its 45th Anniversary meeting in Palau this week.  The entity which is a law corporation created to provide free legal services to those in Micronesia that can’t afford legal services, has been around for 45 years.

For its 45th anniversary meeting, it invited as its special guest speaker Ambassador Amy Hyatt of the United States of America to the Republic of Palau.

The entity has 9 offices across Micronesia with Board representatives from each island.  The Board members include Honorable Robert Ruecho who is the current President of the corporation and Senator J. Uduch Sengebau Senior who is the current Vice President.  Other members include Robert Tenorio Torres of CNMI, Michael Gaan of Yap State Legislature, Danny Ongelungel of Palau Legislature, Senator Arno Kony of Chuuk State, Jack Harris of Pohnpei State, Minister Thomas Heine of Republic of Marshalls and Senator Reedson Abraham of Kosrae State.

The entity is funded by US government as well as the governments of the region.  It provides access to legal services to low income and most vulnerable members of the society within the Micronesian countries. [/restrict]
