December 13, 2016 (Koror, Palau) On the occasion of the 83rd birthday of His Imperial Majesty Akihito of Japan, President of Palau Tommy Remengesau Jr., First Lady Debbie Remengesau, High Chiefs Ibedul Yutaka Gibbons and Reklai Bao Ngirmang and many Palauan people, joined Ambassador Toshiyuki Yamada of Japan and his wife and the Japanese residents of Palau celebrate His Imperial Majesty’s birthday on Tuesday at the Palau Royal Resort.

Ambassador Yamada of Japan to Palau extended his government’s appreciation of the long relationship between the two countries and expressed the appreciation of the Emperor and Empress of Japan, who had visited Palau in 2015.

“I’ve had the opportunity to visit their majesties before I came here and was made aware of their appreciation of Palau,” stated Ambassador Yamada.

“I express our deepest appreciation for Your Imperial Majesties’ visit to Palau in April 2015 that continues to bring pride and joy to our people. Please accept my warmest congratulations, and those of the Palauan people, on the occasion of your 83rd birthday,” stated President Tommy Remengesau Jr. in this letter to the Imperial Household.
