In recognition of World Diabetes Day, the Republic of Palau Ministry of Health (MOH) organized a health fair on Wednesday, November 14, 2018.  The World Diabetes Day Fair was held at the Palau Community College Cafeteria (PCC Cafeteria) and featured booths promoting topics about diabetes screening, education, awareness, and prevention.  Attendants also participated in a yoga demonstration.  The theme for this year’s Diabetes Day was “The Family and Diabetes.”

A disease that affects a great percentage of Palau’s population, diabetes impairs the body’s ability to produce or respond to insulin.  This results in high levels of glucose in the blood & urine. (PR)
