Jerry Nabeyama, former delegate of Ngatpang State to the national congress, joined the 4th Ngatpang State Legislature after taking his oath of office yesterday at the Palau Supreme Court.

Legislator Nabeyama won a seat in the Ngatpang Legislature when former Legislator Miwa Nabeyama resigned the position in compliance with the Bureau of Public Safety regulations forbidding law enforcement officers from holding other public office roles.

As is common in Palau’s small communities with small pool of people, elected people tend to be related. The election call was open for all citizens of Ngatpang State and Mr. Jerry Nabeyama, Miwa Nabeyama’s uncle won the election to replace his nephew in the 4th Ngatpang State Legislature.
