February 21, 2020- Ms. Damiana Smand, a first time homeowner receives keys to her new home in Kesebelau, Airai. The three-bedroom, one bath home cost $56,000.00 funded through the National Housing Commission’s (NHC) Housing Development Loan Program (HDLP). Ms. Smand’s home was financed by the Palau Housing Authority at 3% with a $10,000 government subsidy. The 34 feet by 32 feet home includes 3 bedrooms, one bathroom, a standard living room and a traditional Palauan living room and a water tank catchment system.
Presenting the keys to Ms. Smand was NHC Chairman, Minister Baklai Temengil-Chiton; Palau Housing Authority Director, Ms. Frida Delmau, Contractor, Mr. Alfonso Seklii, and Bureau of Lands and Surveys Director, Ms. Sterlina Gabriel.
