KOROR, Palau (June 30, 2025) — A new bus route has been added to Koror’s public transportation system just in time for the 2025 Pacific Mini Games. Officials hope the improved service will make it easier for athletes, visitors, and the general public to move around town.
The system now offers two bus options:
- Bus 1 (Daytime Bus): This bus follows the usual route from Surangel Supercenter to the National Hospital, then to Icebox Park in Malakal and back. A small change has been made — the route now continues deeper into Meyuns, stopping near the national swimming pool next to the Meyuns softball field.
- Bus 2 (Shuttle Bus): This is a new addition with a shorter loop. It starts at Palasia Hotel and travels through downtown Koror, stopping at the same key stops as Bus 1, including the new Meyuns pool stop. It then ends at Ngermalk Long Island Park in Malakal before heading back to Palasia.
Both buses charge $1 per ride, but a special unlimited bus pass is now available for $20. The pass allows unlimited rides on both buses until July 30.
“We encourage everyone to get the unlimited pass early to make the most of this limited-time offer,” said Elangel Yanni Mesubed, Director of the Bureau of Tourism.
The $20 unlimited pass can be purchased at:
- The information booth at Ernguul Park,
- The Bureau of Tourism office at the One Stop Shop building,
- The Palau Visitors Authority (PVA) office.
People can also call Director Mesubed at 775-1443 to ask about the pass.
When asked if the new shuttle bus and route will continue after the Pacific Mini Games, Mesubed said the program is being monitored and may be extended based on public demand.
