New Zealand’s flagship Manaaki scholarship is now open to Palauan students seeking undergraduate or postgraduate degrees in New Zealand for the 2026 academic year.

The scholarship provides full financial support, including tuition, a living allowance of approximately $40,000 USD, insurance, and additional benefits.

Recommended fields of study include climate change, environmental studies, disaster management, governance, economic resilience, private sector fields such as marketing and economics, fisheries, health, and education.

The program requires in-person attendance, aiming to foster networks across the Pacific that benefit students in their future careers.

“There’s no age limit,” said Richard Kim, First Secretary of the New Zealand Consulate in Hawaii. “Yes, we target school leavers [high school graduates], but we also accept mature students who want to further their education.”

Recipients must return home and work in their country for at least two years after completing their studies.

Applications are available online beginning April 1 and are open for one month.
