Overview:

Palau swimmer Shawn Dingilius Wallace represented the country at the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup Astana 2026 in Kazakhstan, competing in three events and posting a strong 50-meter butterfly time of 29.36 seconds. He now turns his focus to preparing for next summer’s Pacific Games.

Palau was represented at the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup Astana 2026 in Kazakhstan from  October 15-17, 2026, by swimmer Shawn Dingilius Wallace.

This was Shawn’s fifth World Cup appearance. He competed in the 100m Freestyle, 50m Freestyle, and  50m Butterfly during the three-day competition.

Although this was his first meet of the season, Shawn came close to several personal best times. His  strongest performance was in the 50m Butterfly, where he swam 29.36 seconds, one of his best  performances in the event.

The World Cup gave Shawn another opportunity to gain experience at the international level. Since his  first World Cup in 2022, he has learned how to deal with travel, jet lag, and the demands of international  competition. He said these experiences have helped him become more disciplined and focused on his  goals.

Shawn said he is always proud to represent Palau on the international stage.

“It means a lot to represent Palau. I feel grateful and proud every time I see Palau’s flag at an  international competition.”

He hopes young swimmers in Palau will take every opportunity to compete internationally, gain  experience, and prepare themselves for future competitions such as the World Championships, Pacific  Games, and regional events.

Following the World Cup, Shawn will continue training and preparing for the Pacific Games next  summer.

He thanked his mother and coaches, John Berry and Carl Thomas, for their support. Shawn also shared a message for Palau:

“Thank you all for the support, and I will be training hard for the Pacific Games.”

The Palau Aquatics Federation congratulates Shawn on representing Palau at the World Cup and  wishes him all the best in his future competitions.
