NGERULMUD, Palau – The Ngerulmud office is currently without water due to a significant pipe leak that was discovered earlier this morning. As a result, all comfort rooms in the building are closed until the situation is resolved.
Director of Public Works, Brian Melairei, stated that the source of the leak was located near the judiciary building. “We do not know the details of the leak yet as we are still mobilizing an excavator to the site to excavate and do further assessments,” he said. “Repair time and cost won’t be known until we excavate to expose the problem.”
The leak was discovered in the morning of July 29, 2024, and officials are currently working to assess the extent of the damage. Staff at the Ngerulmud office have been alerted to the water outage, and all necessary precautions are being taken as maintenance crews work to remedy the situation.
Until the pipe is repaired, water services will remain unavailable at Ngerulmud. Further updates on the restoration of services will be released as more information becomes available.
