The case filed against former governor of Ngiwal State Ellender Ngirameketii scheduled to start yesterday, have rescheduled its second day trial to next week Tuesday due to fear of exposure to COVID.

Cases of COVID had surged this past week with witnesses, OSP employees exposed to COVID-19, causing the trial to be rescheduled to next Tuesday.

Announcement from Special Prosecutor Dawn Cripps said that she will call in the the witnesses to check on Monday the COVID statuses before she set the date for the continuation of the trial.

Mr. Ngirameketii was charged again  by the Office of Special Prosecutor Dawn Cripps, on 2 counts of Misconduct in Public Office (each a felony charge), 2 counts of Code of Ethics violations, 2 counts of Tampering with Government Records, and 2 counts of Unified Tax Act violations. (Island Times)
