On Thursday May 21, 2020 Ngiwal State Governor Ellender Ngirameketii and PPUC Chief Executive Officer Greg Decherong signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish cooperation and working relationship between the two parties for a streetlight project to illuminate the secondary roads in Ngiwal.
The MOU outlined specific responsibilities for each party (PPUC and Ngchesar State Government). As the energy provider, PPUC will provide labor, equipment and materials needed for installation of sixty-five (65) streetlights. Further, PPUC will be responsible for the repairs and maintenance of these streetlights. On the other hand,
Ngiwal State shall make sure the sites are accessible and identify streetlights that need repair. The State must also maintain an inventory of the streetlights in collaboration with PPUC personnel on a quarterly basis. Governor Ngirameketii thanked PPUC and emphasized that the project could not have come at a better time given the COVID pandemic. “There are more kids and other community members out and about during the day and throughout the night so having brighter streets will bring a sense of safety to the people,” he said. CEO Decherong assured the Governor of PPUC’s enthusiasm and commitment towards this project. Mesulang Ngiwal State!
