On July 15, 2016, President Tommy Remengesau Jr., appointed Oldiais Ngiraikelau to the position of Associate Justice of the Trial Division of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Palau.

Mr. Ngiraikelau began his thirty one years in the legal profession in 1984 as a Deputy Public Defender in the Office of Public Defender, Honolulu, Hawaii. Mr. Ngiraikelau left Hawaii in 1987 and became an Assistant Public Defender in Saipan, CNMI. Mr. Ngiraikelau was appointed Chief Public Defender in 1990. Mr. Ngiraikelau returned home in 1991 where he formed the “Ngiraikelau Dengokl Ridpath” law firm with Mr. Yukiwo Dengokl and Mr. William Ridpath. In 1994 Mr. Ngiraikelau became a

solo practitioner and remained a solo practitioner until his appointment to the bench.

Mr. Ngiraikelau, being born a catholic attended Maris Stella Elementary School in Koror, Xavier High School in Chuuk and University of Portland, Oregon. Mr. Ngiraikelau graduated from University of Hawaii Richardson School of Law in December, 1983, and was admitted to practice law in Hawaii and Palau in May of 1984. At present Mr. Ngiraikelau is only admitted to practice law in Palau.

Mr. Ngiraikelau was sworn in by President Tommy Remengesau, Jr. on January 6, 2017 and was appointed by Chief Justice Arthur Ngiraklsong as Presiding Justice of the Trial Division of the Palau Supreme Court. [/restrict]
