Over 500 participants convene today at the Ngarachamayong Cultural Center for the annual Education Convention hosted by the Ministry of Education (MOE).
The convention is the kickoff of the three-day event which will be participated by teachers from both public and private schools, and other participants from the field of education.
Division of School Management Chief Raynold Mechol told Island Times that part of the purpose of the convention is to prepare teachers for the next school year.
The convention also aims to help participants become familiar with MOE’s various programs and enrich best practices in the field.
President Tommy Remengesau and Chief Executive Officer and President of McRel International Bryan Goodwin, who is the Keynote Speaker for today’s program, will also be present to grace the event.
McREL is a non-profit, a nonprofit education research and service organization that serves school systems across North America, the Caribbean, Australia and the Pacific.
Goodwin has authored four books including Unstuck: How Curiosity, Peer Coaching, and Teaming Can Change Your School (ASCD, Balanced Leadership for Powerful Learning: Tools for Achieving Success in Your School, The 12 Touchstones of Good Teaching: A Checklist for Staying Focused Every Day, Simply Better: Doing What Matters Most to Change the Odds for Student Success and The Future of Schooling: Educating America in 2020.
Goodwin also writes a monthly research column for Educational Leadership magazine. Before he joined McREL in 1998, he was a college instructor, a high school teacher, and a business journalist. (Rhealyn C. Pojas)
