Associate Justice John K. Rechucher, one of the two full-time associate justices of Palau’s Appellate Court, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife Bessy and children.

Justice Rechucher had served on the Appellate Court since 2016, following his appointment by former President Tommy E. Remengesau Jr. In appointing Rechucher, Remengesau praised his extensive legal experience and professionalism.

Rechucher, a lawyer by profession, also held the chiefly title of Beouch of Ngardmau and had served as Governor of Ngardmau State.

Along with Chief Justice Ngiraikelau and four part-time associate justices, Rechucher helped make up the Palau Supreme Court’s Appellate Division.
