October 12, 2016 (Koror) In close and cozy atmosphere of Marina Café Vita, Ambassador Taijiri of Japan to the Republic of Palau, delivered his final farewell remarks to Palau after 3 years and month of service.
“Reflecting on my time here, I can honestly say what a short, but incredible three years it has been: Typhoon Haiyan in November 2013; the official opening of the Aimeliik Power Plant and the PIF Meeting in 2014; the imperial visit to Palau by Their Majesties and PALM 7 in 2015; severe drought this spring and Pacific-Partnership 2016; and, just several hours ago, Japan and Palau signed a grant agreement for the Renovation of Palau Mariculture Demonstration Center Facility,” stated HE Ambassador Taijiri.

Ambassador Taijiri added that under the leadership of President Remengesau Jr., the warm hospitality of Palau was shown to Their Imperial Majesties of Japan during their visit to Palau.
He further emphasized the close historical relationship between the two countries and urged greater exchanges between the peoples of Palau and Japan, especially the young ones.
“Through Ambassador Tajiri’s tenure we saw the friendship between Palau and the people of Japan flourished in peace times. And in our times of crisis he and the people of Japan were there for us through thick and thin. Our relationship with Japan has become ever stronger-like brothers that understand each other. Although he may contemplate retirement, I know full well that Palau expects him back, with his family as private citizens for some vacation time, and Palau will always welcome them as family,” remarked President Remengesau Jr. of HE Taijiri’s tenure in Palau.
Ambassador Taijiri will be wrapping up his service in Palau next week and a new ambassador Toshiyuki Yamada will be taking his post in November of this year. [/restrict]
