KOROR, Palau — April 2025 has been designated as National Earth Month in Palau, following a proclamation issued by President Surangel S. Whipps, Jr. The declaration aligns with the global Earth Day theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” and encourages public participation in environmental initiatives aimed at protecting the country’s natural resources.
Palau has historically extended Earth Day observances beyond April 22, dedicating the entire month to ecological awareness and action. The 2025 National Earth Month will be observed under the local theme: “Kaukledem el Kirel a Ungil Omengereomel el mo Klungiolel a Ungil Klukuk er Kid; Investing in Our Community: Safeguarding Our Investments for a Cleaner Future.”
Emphasis on Sustainability
The proclamation highlights the importance of sustainability, citing the role of healthy ecosystems in providing clean water, air, and climate regulation. It calls for investment in environmental protection and the adoption of innovative solutions to address ecological challenges.
