Koror, Palau – In a significant step toward climate resilience, Palau has launched www.climatechange.pw, an official website dedicated to climate change awareness and action. The platform, announced by President Surangel Whipps Jr. on March 5, 2025, serves as a central hub for citizens, policymakers, and stakeholders to access critical information on climate change impacts, adaptation strategies, and ongoing projects in Palau.

“Climate change is a pressing issue for Palau and the entire Pacific region,” said President Whipps. “This website is a vital resource for our nation, providing a platform for information sharing, knowledge exchange, and collaborative action.”

According to Antoni Soalablai, Communications, Information Management, and Outreach Officer at the Office of Climate Change, the new website offers detailed insights into government initiatives and policies, highlighting climate action programs, investments in renewable energy, sustainable infrastructure, and resilience-building efforts. The platform also features key research reports and documents aimed at addressing the challenges posed by climate change.

A key feature of the website is its interactive blog section, which will showcase stories and updates from government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and community groups. The Office of Climate Change has invited individuals, organizations, and advocacy groups to contribute their insights, experiences, and solutions.

Future updates to the website will include a Geographic Information System (GIS) Viewer, providing real-time data on rising sea levels, shifting weather patterns, and their effects on Palau’s ecosystems and communities. This tool will also highlight the public health consequences of climate change, including increased heat-related illnesses, the spread of vector-borne diseases, and threats to food and water security.

The Project Dashboard will offer transparency on climate resilience initiatives, detailing project scopes, statuses, partners, and resource needs. Visitors are encouraged to engage with the platform by exploring available resources and contributing to discussions on climate solutions.

The launch of www.climatechange.pw represents Palau’s ongoing commitment to building a healthy, sustainable, and resilient future as climate change continues to threaten the region.
