Koror,Palau — The Palau Leadership Softball Tournament, held at the Nippon Asahi Baseball Field on September 24 and 26, 2024, marked the start of festivities celebrating the 30th anniversary of Belau Independence Day. The event featured seven teams representing key leadership groups: Executives, Chamber of Commerce, Diplomats, Speaker Association,Olbiil Era Kelulau, Governor Association, and Judiciary.

On September 24, the teams gathered at 4 PM to draw numbers determining their matchups and game order. Competitive yet friendly matches followed, showcasing not only athletic skills but camaraderie among Palau’s leadership.

The tournament concluded on September 26 with the championship games. Olbiil Era Kelulau emerged victorious, claiming 1st place, Diplomats took 2nd place, while Speaker Association finished 3rd. Judiciary came in 4th, and the Governor’s Association rounded out the standings in 5th place.

Each winning team received prizes, which they generously donated to their chosen Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), reflecting the spirit of community service that runs deep in Palau’s leadership. The winning team, OEK, decided to donate their prize to the Palau Sailing Association.

The Palau Leadership Softball Tournament set the tone for the 30th Independence Day celebrations, bringing people together through sportsmanship and unity.
