Koror, Palau (December 2, 2025) —“Keen to make the Palau Pacific Resort more green, the Luuk Nature Center was created,” said Manager Yalap Yalap, capturing the heart of the resort’s newest initiative — a full nature immersion experience designed to deepen environmental awareness and celebrate Palau’s natural heritage.

Palau Pacific Resort (PPR) will officially launch the Luuk Nature Center this month, a new facility dedicated to conservation education and sustainable tourism. The name Luuk, meaning “nest” in Palauan, reflects the center’s goal of fostering knowledge and appreciation for both land and marine ecosystems found within and around the resort.
Located at the southernmost end of the resort, the center features an interactive visitor facility where guests receive an introduction to Palau’s terrestrial and underwater environment. From there, they are guided through nature trails and invited to explore the nearby conservation waters — within swimming distance of the resort — where marine biodiversity thrives.
One of its key features is a marine nursery, comprised of a pool system with varying depths that rehabilitates injured and sick sea life, including sea turtles. Animals are cared for in these protected pools before being returned to the ocean once fully recovered.
The nature trail, which winds along the northern hills and forest areas of the property, offers guests a first-hand encounter with tropical flora and fauna. Visitors can pause at the hilltop to enjoy local refreshments, adding a taste of Palauan culture to the multisensory experience.
The ocean side of the resort forms part of the Ngarkebesang Conservation Zone, a marine area designated by the Koror State Government. The zone serves as an active research site monitored by marine scientists, with collaborative studies currently underway between Palau Pacific Resort, the Palau International Coral Reef Center and other partners. Guests — and eventually school groups at no charge — will be able to participate in research activities and witness conservation work up close.

Yalap emphasized that the Luuk Nature Center reflects PPR’s commitment to environmental responsibility, describing it as “dedicated to conservation education, sustainable tourism and the celebration of Palau’s unique heritage.” With immersive trails, marine study access and rehabilitation facilities, the center is poised to become a leading example of green-minded hospitality in Palau.
