KOROR, Palau – A friendly cricket match between Team Australia led by Ambassador Ritchelle Turner and Team Palau captained by President Surangel Whipps Jr. served as a belated Australia Day celebration on Thursday.

The Australian National Day falls on January 26 but the celebration was moved to February 15th due to weather conditions.

This year’s event, the 3rd annual Australia Day Cricket Championship, lived up to expectations, entertaining players and spectators alike, according to an EPFM radio broadcast.

Defending champions Team Palau once again demonstrated their cricket prowess, securing victory and retaining the title for 2024.

Under clear skies and pleasant weather, Australians and friends representing Pacific nations and beyond marked the national day with camaraderie and cricket.

This year, Australia and Palau also celebrate 30 years of diplomatic relations.
